About Us

lrc_land_31Welcome to our blog, created by the staff at the Library/Learning Resources Centre (LRC) at the Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences.

The Michener Institute is a diploma and certificate granting post-secondary institution located among major teaching hospitals in downtown Toronto, Canada.  Michener is on the leading edge of interprofessional education and simulation in health care. Our innovative curriculum is partnered with exceptional faculty and evolving facilities. The CAE/Michener Centre for the Advancement of Simulation and Education (CASE) opened in 2010.  At the end of 2011, the first class of students in the Physician Assistant degree program offered collaboratively by the University of Toronto, Northern Ontario Medical School and Michener completed their program.

The catalyst for this blog was our research into the learning and teaching behaviors of our students and faculty.  This blog is a place to share information gathered from our ongoing research projects, to inform you of changes we are making as a result of our research, and to continue to get your feedback about our research, resources, services, and space.  If you’d like to learn more about the 2008/2009 research project that launched this blog, please see our Observation Research page.

We also want to use this blog to get your feedback about new resources we think might be useful to you in your learning and teaching.  In essence, we hope to develop a Michener “peer review” process.  So please, check out our Resource Review page and tell us what you think.

Lastly, this blog is a place for you to find announcements about new service available at the LRC, tutorials, hours, and other information you might find helpful.

Want to connect with LRC staff to tell us your thoughts about the space or our services, or to suggest a resource for the LRC?
Leave a comment!  We look forward to hearing from you!

  1. I have some radiographic books. As I passed the exam and would like to give them the ones who need them. Does this website offer this exchange function?
